Lamborghini project

This is the first sketch of what would hopefully become a Lamborghini 4-seater project which I was planning to start long time ago. I'd really like to do a lot of sketches & build a 3D model at the end. I plan to start working on that in couple of weekzzz, so stay tuned!..

Kei car

This is a sketch of a Kei car that was "inspired by" the Sketch fight competitions held by www.cardesign.ru. Starting from several weeks ago the website started those one-hour daily sketch fights in which I was really eager to partecipate. The only problem's that they are held at 22.00 Moscow time which was 3.00 before the 25.10 and is 4.00 after the 25th (Japan dosen't switch to summer/winter time). So it's really not doable for me to take part in those competitions unfortunately; but couple of times I did draw some sketches following the brief of those sketch fights afterwards. One of the assignments was a Japanese Kei car. "My brief!",- I thought and did this sketch the next day.

Here's the link to the current sketch fight fase which is about to be over on Saturday:
http://www.cardesign.ru/articles/konkursy_i_seminary/2009/11/11/3455/
It becomes more & more interesting! The sketch level's going up. And since several days ago Mr.D.Zyubyairov (http://zyubyairov.blogspot.com) started to take part in the fights, the only thing I can say is: BEWARE!!!

Deutschland 'o9

Hey everyone!!!

I feel really bad for almost abandoning my blog for several months!!! I'm sorry for that!!

Well, first of all, I was a bit ill in the end of July so I was obviously not thinking bout posting anything on my blog.

Then I went home to St.Petersburg for almost 3 weeks. Well, it's not me who has to tell you that home is the worst place to do any kind of work even if it's drawing sketches for yourself! Everytime when I go home I'm bringing some pencils, a sharpener, some paper etc., cuz I always plan to do something...and I never manage to!.. The same thing happened this august,- not a single sketch at home.
;-P

Then I had some period of travels: I went to the Frankfurt Motor Show (that's where the pictures in this post are from), the F1 Japanese GP and finally Okinawa. Pretty intense schedule, I should say!

So finally I'm back with my posts!!! I should say that starting from this week there are some sketchezzz to come.

"KAMAZ Truck for Dakar Race in year 2022" competition entry

These are the sketches that I did for the competition organized by Cardesign.ru and Simkom.com. The brief was to draw a Kamaz racing truck for the year 2022.

I actually highly recommend you to check out other entries!.. You'll find some REALLY AWESOME works:

Marussia SUV proposal

I recently participated in the competition organized by the Marussia brand (http://marussiaclub.ru/). The brief was to design an SUV based on the Audi Q7 dimentions (http://marussiaclub.blogspot.com/ - that's only in Russian, unfortunately).

I actually decided to enter the competition at the last moment,- the deadline was postponed so I thought that I probably need to propose something too. So here I have 4 views of the SUV. The car had to look pretty sporty for Marussia is a sportscar manufacturer. So that's why my basic idea was to make the car look muscular but still elegant with the features of a sportscar. The intakes in the front are heavily influenced by that type of vehicles; some accent was put on the wheelarches that are sticking out a bit giving the impression of confidence and some kind of aggression.

It didn't work out at the end of the day,- my project didn't make it in the top-3.
;-)))
I congratulate the winners - Mihail Popov, Andrej Trofimchuk and Vasilij Kanevsky (www.car-sketching.blogspot.com) - and wish them to participate in the further development of the car. Good luck, guys!!

P.S.
I should admit that the sideview that I post here's a bit different to the one I sent,- I fixed the overhangs and couple of lines. It's definetely become better! I just wish I did that before uploading the entry and not after that. The previous variant was reviewed by D.Zyubyairov (http://zyubyairov.blogspot.com/), A.Gusev (http://carcreator.blogspot.com/) and E. Tkachev (http://otnudesign.blogspot.com/). All of them didn't like the first version much. I should say though that niether did I!..

Jaguar E-Type, 1961-1967

Those sketches are made with my beloved pencil and capture the legendary and all-time classic really cool Jaguar E-Type!..
I actually found one occasionally in my album. That was the one made in March. So I thought that posting just one view is not enough and drew the 3/4 back in addition to the front view.

Love this car! Why no one makes objects like this nowadays?!!

April time-spending and some sketch development advice-asking

It's been awhile since I made my last post. Well, I've got some reasons for that. The main reason's that I've been settling down in Tokyo. I finally moved into my apartment (which's situated in Takanawa district with Shirokanedai across the street & has got an awesome view!) and installed all the furniture already!..
Starting from the 29th of April the Golden week started! This means no work and just holidays up to 6th of May!!! "Spare time!", I thought. "Maybe some sketchin'!!!" The answer was "no!", because one of my best friends Andrey Gusev (http://carcreator.blogspot.com/) came to visit me to Tokyo from Nagoya for the whole Golden week... So it turnes out that we live some kind of "european-time-life" wakin' up at 16.00 and going to sleep at around 7.00. Tokyo night life's pretty intense, I should say!!!
:-)))
Obviously there's no time for sketchin', as you can imagine!..

Well, that's not the point of this post, actually!.. The point is the sketch I did in February of a small Alfa. I completely forgot about that and found it in my computer recently.
So I actually want to know yours, guys, opinion,- do you thing it's worth making Photoshop sketches out of that or should it remain as just pencil doodles?!!

February/March spare time explanation

I still remember that I had to explain the reason of having so much spare time in Feb/Mar that I could work for my own projects. The reason's simple,- I was changing the place of work. I finished with the Stile Bertone recently and joined the Honda Tokyo studio team starting from April 1st!..
;-)))
I'm pretty sure it'll be a really cool experience!!!

I'd love to thank everyone who I worked with in the Stile Bertone and all my friends from Pininfarina, FIAT, IED etc. That was a magnificent time that we spent in Turin!.. I really hope to have a chance to come back to this splendid city again!!!

A presto!!!

X Series Doodles

These are couple of sketches/doodles for the X Series. Most of them were done in November when I still had time to do this stuff.

P.S.
The Photoshop coloring's done on top of the "in-train-drawn-doodles", developed somewhere between Venice and Turin

BMW X Series

I finally got some spare time to finish this X-series, the first doodle for which was drawn on the 17th (!!!) of October.

It's been such a long time that it didn't appear that I decided to do some speacial «St.Petersburg feeling» sketches. So here I upload 3 backs, 3 tipups and 3 front views.

These are the places which you see in the pictures (from top to bottom):

Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, the Palace bridge with the Peter and Paul Fortress behind, the Anichkov bridge, the Bronze Horseman, the Rostral columns, the Lions bridge.

I'll explain later the reason of having so much spare time...

New X-Series teaser

This is really ridiculous but it must have seemed that this blog's almost dead. This is not true even if January was the first month without a single post though.

Well, there were some reasons for that. First of all, I got stuck in St.Petersburg for much longer time than I expected by some stupid sircumstances. And I obviously didn't do anything there for my design activities. Second thing was that when I came back to Turin I obviously had to start working which meant no time for personal design researches.
But now I'm finally much more free and have some spare time to finish some projects of mine for which I hadn't had time before. One of them is the BMW X-series car which I'm about to start/finish these days.

So hopefully this is my last teaser for that. The only reason this one is done is that I cannot affort my blog to be silent for so much time!!!
;-P

P.S.
Got some corrections

"No tablet - no nu sketches!!!" or "Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!!!"

I really wanted to draw some special XMas & Nu Year stuff but unfortunately had no possibility to do that because of the lack of time and the absence of my...tablet!.. I returned to St.Petersburg on the 20th of December & decided not to bring my tablet with me because I thought that I won't have time to draw anyway. & I was almost right!.. Got some really intense times here meeting friends, organizing some home routine etc.

The only thing I managed to do is a retouch of an old sketch,- now it's got a "white" Nu Year feeling with some "home" St.Petersburg touch!!!
;-P

So anyway, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to everyone!!! Thanx for supporting and folowing this blog!!! I wish everyone an enjoyable and happy year full of "peace, love & understanding"!..

BMW X-Series teaser

This one is the first teaser of the BMW X-Series that was developed by me around a month ago. The problem of presenting it is...lack of time!.. I've got absolutely no time to do final sketches!.. Just to make you understand how busy I am at work: I didn't only work this Saturday but came home at 3.30 AM on Sunday. The project we are working on's a bit tough!..

Anyway, I plan to post some more teaser images here before New Year. But I really doubt that I'll have time to post the presentation sketches before 2009...
;-)))

P.S.
It's been changed since yesterday cause Andrey Gusev, Raffaele Gerace, Aydar Nigmatullin & Dima Zyubyairov said that it was too dark. & they were right!.. It's a bit more contrasty now.

Can Audi TT be yellow?!

I had a pretty interesting discussion last morning on our way to work with a friend of mine Aydar Nigmatullin (darnig.blogspot.com). The point was the first (or the iconic?) Audi TT,- I was trying to convince Aydar that the car is so cool, that it can be any color and would still be awesome!.. "Even yellow?!",- was a provocative question of Aydar... Hm... "A good one!", I thought. So I decided to check if the TT would be still cool even in strange yellow by drawing that by memory (actually, a really cool excercise that is,- to draw existing cars by memory).

I don't know actually right now... I still think though that it would look cool even yellow. However, I won't buy myself the TT in that color...
;-)))

P.S.
It seems to me like a taxi, especially from the distance!..

BMW 6 series

I had couple of hours of spare time at work 2 weeks ago, so I sketched some BMWs in Painter and sent them to my really cool friend Dmitry Zyubyairov to recieve some feedback from him. And the feedback was that he suggested to draw some other views and to finish this one as a fast sketch project.

So there we have 5 views and the initial sketch of a 6 (or maybe 8) series coupe. The main goal was actually to make a true BMW with really clean & laconical shapes.
;-)))

P.S.
Got some X series sketches to develop that might appear here in some time!..
;-P
